Objective

The student understands the meaning of visual arts, handicraft and music in the development and wellbeing of children and adolescent. S/he has both theoretical knowledge and pedagogical and methodological skills in implementing, guiding and evaluating group activities for children of different ages.

Content

The art and music education for children and adolescent in theory and practice. The methods, tools and materials in visual expression and handicraft. Musical working methods. Implementing, guiding and evaluation of group action in practice.

Qualifications

Basic and general knowledge of human growth, development, leaarning and creativity.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent 5 The student has a justified interpretation of the developmental skills of different-aged children and young people in art education. S/he shows creative and innovative problem solving skills in team work projects and group counseling skills in art and music education. The student is critical and capable to develop her/his practical and pedagogical skills in client work.
Very good 4: The student has a clear interpretation of the developmental skills of different-aged children and young people in art education. S/he shows creative and child centered problem solving skills in art and music education and team work projects. The student is critical and capable to develop his/her skills in client work.
Good 3: The student has good theoretical competence and understanding of the developmental abilities of different-aged children and young people in art education. S/He shows creative and good problem solving skills in the fields of art education. The student is capable to develop her/his pedagogical and practical skills in client work and team work projects.
Satisfactory 2: The student is able to show her/his knowledge of basic developmental phases of children and young people in art education. S/He is able to organize and assess pedagogical activities for children and young people. S/He has basic problem solving and expressive skills in art education and team work projects.
Sufficient 1: The student is capable to organize and assess creative activities for children and young people. S/He has basic problem solving and expressive skills in art education and team work.
