Objective
The students understand the different levels and the entity of the service system in senior and elderly work. The students have an acknowledged, personal relationship with the connections of senior and elderly work theory and practice. The students have practised the use and development of sociocultural methods of senior and elderly work. The students realistically assess their competence to operate in customer work, in work communities and in multiprofessional work groups.
Content
Participating in the practical work with seniors and the elderly in different operation units. Using various sociocultural work methods in individual and group guidance.
Qualifications
The students structure aging and senior and elderly work from the sociocultural viewpoint and understand the connection between various information bases with the aging cultures of service and operation environments. The students recognise the resources of the life of elderly people and exploit them in customer work. The students know the turning points of the life of the elderly and the possibilities of the service system to support the elderly. The students understand the theoretical basics of work forms and methods in elderly work and can apply them in the professional pracice of sociocultureal senior and elderly work. The students assess the practices of senior and elderly work and elderly and age policy on the societal level as well as its global connections with information on social and environmental gerontology and based on the value basis of the social field.
