Advanced Methods in Early Childhood EducationLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

The students know the planning process of early childhood education. They know goals, contents and methods of of early childhood education and preschool education from the aspect of child and family orientation. They can plan and evaluate activities taking into account the child's participation, learning and social function as part of the child group. The students able to implement a variety of theoretical approaches and working methods in an appropriate way and to assess their success.

Content

Early childhood education and preschool education plan,
orientations of early childhood education, contents of preschool education, creative methods and alternative pedagogies, observation and evaluation of children's learning and function, methods of special education, multicultural early childhood education.
Media Education

Qualifications

The students know the basic concepts of early childhood education, legal papers regulating early childhood education and the operational environments of early childhood education. They also recognise the main characteristics of under school aged children's growth and development. The students can plan activities that support development, growth and learning to under school aged children.
