Purpose of the course
The purpose of the course is to learn how play and physical activity can support the well-being and learning of children with different support needs.

Learning objective
You understand the importance of play in supporting child development and the possibilities of physical activity to support the child's participation in play. You know the means of supporting play in multidisciplinary cooperation. Recognise the diversity and underlying factors of children's learning difficulties and their relation to the child's ability to play. You know how to use play observation methods to observe children's play skills.
Content
The main content of the course includes theories, developmental stages and types of play, support for play in multidisciplinary cooperation and the importance of play. Methods of play observation. Motor, language and social interaction difficulties and perceptual and attentional difficulties underlying various learning difficulties
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
By the end of the course, you will understand the importance of play in supporting child development and how physical activity can support a child's participation in play. You will know how to support play in multidisciplinary collaboration. You will recognise the diversity and underlying factors of children's learning difficulties and their relationship to their ability to play. You will be able to use at least one method of play observation to observe children's play skills.
