Objective

Student knows the basis of gerontological rehabilitation from the perspective of multididisciplinary gerontology and multiprofessional rehabiliation. He/she regonizes individual and different kind of rehabilitation needs, rehabilitation services and the challenges and possibilities to develop them.

Student can apply the different practical approaches of gerontological rehabilitation from the promotive perspective of well-being and health, and in different phases of rehabilitation proseccess and in different rehabilitation contexts.

The Basis and concepts of gerontological rehabilitation.
Gerontological theories of aging.
Plans (documents) of health, services and rehabilitation.
Rehabiliation process of older adult.
Rehabilitation in promotive, acute ja institutional services of older adults.

Qualifications

Student knows the principles of health care-, social and physical services and ethical principles based on the laws related in these areas.

He/she know the basis and principles of promotive approach of well-being, health and functional capacity of individuals, families and societies.

He/she knows the principles to evaluate and assess functional capacity, activity and participation, also promote these from the person-centred perspective in the contexts of services.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5): The student has mastered the basics of gerontological rehabilitation in terms of multidisciplinary gerontology and multi-field rehabilitation extensively and in combination. He/she recognises different and also new individual rehabilitation needs and existing rehabilitation services, and evaluates their development challenges critically. The student applies, in a diverse and justified way, different approaches to gerontological rehabilitation in terms of promoting well-being and health at different stages of the rehabilitation process and in different rehabilitation contexts. The student knows the legislative foundation of rehabilitation for the elderly and can analyse its functioning and service gaps. He/she can analytically evaluate his/her competence and learning and has mastered the instructions for written work.
Very good (4): The student has mastered the basics of gerontological rehabilitation in terms of multidisciplinary gerontology and multi-field rehabilitation and actively strives to combines them. He/she recognises different individual rehabilitation needs, existing rehabilitation services and their development challenges, striving to expand his/her competence. The student understands and can apply different approaches to gerontological rehabilitation in terms of promoting well-being and health at many different stages of the rehabilitation process and in different rehabilitation contexts. The student knows the legislative foundation of rehabilitation for the elderly. He/she evaluates his/her learning realistically. He/she follows the instructions for written work.
Good (3): The student uses the basic concepts of rehabilitation and gerontology. He/she can apply at least one approach to gerontological rehabilitation in the rehabilitation process of an elderly client. He/she can describe and justify his/her choices and take the customer-orientation and legislation of gerontological rehabilitation into account. The student knows the legislative foundation of gerontological rehabilitation. He/she evaluates his/her learning realistically. He/she follows the instructions for written work.
Satisfactory (2):The student knows the basics of gerontological rehabilitation in terms of multidisciplinary gerontology and multi-field rehabilitation. He/she recognises some individual rehabilitation needs, existing rehabilitation services and their development challenges in limited terms. The student understands and can apply some approaches to gerontological rehabilitation in terms of promoting well-being and health in certain stages of the rehabilitation process and in selected rehabilitation contexts. The student knows most of the legislative foundation of gerontological rehabilitation. He/she evaluates his/her learning realistically. He/she follows the instructions for written work.

Adequate (1): The student knows the basics of gerontological rehabilitation in terms of multidisciplinary gerontology and multi-field rehabilitation. He/she recognises some limited individual rehabilitation needs, existing rehabilitation services and their development challenges in limited terms. The student understands and can apply some approaches to gerontological rehabilitation in terms of promoting well-being and health in certain stages of the rehabilitation process and in selected rehabilitation contexts. The student knows most of the legislative foundation of gerontological rehabilitation. He/she evaluates his/her learning only under guidance. He/she partly follows the instructions for written work.
