Design and Implementation of Wireless NetworksLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

Student can design and implement a new wireless network by utilizing the most common wireless technologies. In addition, student can measure and optimize range and reliability of a present wireless network. Student understands the environmental impact for signal propagation and thus also for the operation of wireless network.

Content

Phases of wireless network designing and implementation will be explored in the course. Possible obstacles and sources of interference affecting the advancement of wireless signal will be disclosed from the target environment of the wireless network. Radio spectrum analyzor will be utilized as a part of a designing process in order to discover the problems caused by parallel wireless technologies and possible sources of interference.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent 5: Student has an excellent knowledge of wireless network design phases and principles. Student can utilize the theory of designing in practical environment and is able to discover the possible sources of interference and problems from the target environment. Student can implement the wireless network according to the plan excellently.

Very good 4: Student has a very good knowledge of wireless network design phases and principles. Student can utilize the theory of designing in practical environment and is able to discover the possible sources of interference and problems from the target environment. Student can implement the wireless network according to the plan very well.

Good 3: Student has a good knowledge of wireless network design phases and principles. Student can utilize the theory of designing in practical environment and is able to discover the possible sources of interference and problems from the target environment. Student can implement the wireless network according to the plan well.

Satisfactory 2: Student has a satisfactory knowledge of wireless network design phases and principles. Student can utilize the theory of designing in practical environment and is able to discover the possible sources of interference and problems from the target environment. Student can implement the wireless network according to the plan satisfyingly.

Sufficient 1: Student has a sufficient knowledge of wireless network design phases and principles. Student can utilize the theory of designing in practical environment and is able to discover the possible sources of interference and problems from the target environment.
