Objective
Purpose of the course
The course is an introduction to the key concepts and sectors of the bioeconomy. You will become familiar to agriculture and forestry and their environmental and energy issues. You will learn how to make observations and reflect on them from different angles utilizing theoretical knowledge base. After completing this course you will have an overview of the primary production sector of bioeconomy.

The student understands the basic concepts and the most important sectors of the bioeconomy.
The student is familiar with the main characteristics of the rural operating environment in Finland.
The student knows the big picture of agriculture and forestry and their conditions and limitations from different perspectives of sustainability.

Introduction to fundamentals and sectors of bioeconomy in Finland.
Perspectives of sustainability as enabling and limiting factors of primary production.
Crop production, animal husbandry, forestry and bioenergy as forms of bioeconomy.
