Objective

Purpose of the course
After completing this course you will have an overview of rural energy supply. You know how and where energy is used in the rural areas, and how heat can be generated from your own raw materials and sidestreams. You will also be able to design and dimension a solid biofuel operated farm-scaled heating system. You are familiar with the opportunities and activities of energy business in a rural environment.

Competences of the course
Environmental Expertise
Technology Expertise
Energy Expertise
Business Environment Expertise

Learning outcomes in the course
The student knows the current state of rural energy supply as well as the main energy sources and energy uses. The student is able to design and dimension a farm- and regional scale heating system for solid biofuels. The student is familiar with the typical biofuels in rural areas. The student knows the opportunities and operating models of the energy business as part of the rural operating environment.
