Objective

During the course, the student will learn to identify cultural tourism potential and design new cultural tourism concepts. She/he will learn the service design process and relevant tools in the process.

Location and time

The course is virtual and implemented in Moodle learning environment. The course is based to self studying.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1 (Adequate)
Student recognises the service design process and cultural tourism products. The student is able to evaluate the customer-centric nature of products. The student works in a project but does not meet the goals.

2 (Satisfactory)
The student recognizes the service design process and is able to utilize the basic tools in designing cultural tourism products. He/she is able to evaluate the success factors involved with products. He/she can work in a project with a team and takes care of his/her duties. He/she can identify what interferes with his/her creative ability.

3 (Good)
Student understands the service design process and is able to use the tools comprehensively in designing cultural tourism product. The student is able to evaluate the success factors, and innovation business opportunities. He/she is competent in project work and works effectively towards meeting the project goals. He/she is able to improve his/her creative ability

4 (Very good) Student can manage the service design process and is able to use tools in innovative way in desining cultural tourism product. The student is able to evaluate the success factors and business innovations. He/she is able to determine creative and responsible solutions to problems. He/she can manage projects responsibly. He/she is able to improve his/her creative ability.

5 (Excellent)
Student can manage service design process and develop cultural tourism products according to it. The student is able to evaluate success factors and business opportunities. Student uses innovative approach. He/she works responsibly and is able to anticipate problems related to the project and its result. He/she can manage projects and utilize the competence of the team optimally.

Qualifications

The student understands the concepts and phenomena related to cultural tourism. It is recommended to take the course “An approach to cultural tourism” or similar course before taking this course. There are also course “Kohti kulttuurimatkailua” available in Finnish.
