Objective

Student is able to apply critical thinking skills and make independent and evidence based decisions as a nursing professional in evaluating the client`s need for care, performing nursing duties and in guidance of follow-up care. She/he makes use of multi-professional team bearing also in mind the ethical principles of nursing. Student is able to carry out actions, that facilitate seeking the most beneficial outcomes for the health objectives of a client, family and community in their cultural context. Student encounters the client as active participant and uses suitable client-centered counseling and guidance methods. The learning outcomes are accomplished in each student’s own area of expertise. The language skills of each student affect to the selection of the area of expertise.

Content

Evaluating the need and urgency for care and making necessary conclusions. Follow-up care, treatment and guidance. Evidence based practice in care. Prevention of diseases, evaluation of health risks. Guidance of health services, group and individual counseling. Ethical decision-making. Medication guidance and jurispurence, consultation of other professionals.
Student masters medical calculations.
