Objective

Purpose of the course
In this unit you will learn to identify the patient's needs and respond to them through nursing.

Content

Asceptics in Nursing care (Fundamentals of Infection Prevention and Control, Hand Hygiene and Aseptic Procedures)
Assisting patients with personal hygiene
Monitoring of vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, breathing, temperature, pain and consciousness)
Ensuring voiding and elimination
Taking care of nutrition and fluid balance (assisting with meals, putting in a nasogastric tube)
Basic laboratory samples (haemoglobin, blood sugar, urine, throat swab)
Injections in pharmacotherapy (subcutaneous and intramuscular)
Monitoring and maintaining skin health and prevention of pressure ulcers
Ethical principles of nursing as part of professional encounters
Principles of Emergency First Aid
Ergonomics and patient manual handling
