Objective

The purpose is that you can define non-communicable diseases and explain the major risk factors associated with them. You can integrate a body of evidence from nursing guidelines of non-communicable diseases into autonomous clinical decision-making. You can apply advanced expert knowledge in developing, conducting and critically evaluating evidence-based patient education methods to enhance the self-care of patients with a chronic condition and in the prevention and care.

By the end of the course, you can evaluate as an autonomous practitioner the impact of lifestyle modifications and preventive strategies in reducing the incidence and prevalence of non-communicable diseases. You can take responsibility for independent decisions as an advanced nurse practitioner in relation to nursing methods and monitoring a patient’s health condition. You can develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive nursing care plan for patients with non-communicable diseases. You are able to analyse the role of multi-professional collaboration and take responsibility for independent decisions as an advanced nurse practitioner. You can critically evaluate evidence-based digital technologies and analyse and discuss ethical considerations, implementation of sustainable solutions, operating models and cultural implications involved in caring for patients with non-communicable diseases.
