Objective

You know the general structure of automation networks and you recognize robots and robotics as part of it. You understand the importance of cybersecurity for automation and robotics security.

You understand the importance of data networks and cybersecurity in the application of robotics.

YAMOT: Learning and knowledge management skills
You will be able to search for and apply the latest information in the fields of data networks and cybersecurity.

Content

The content follows the structure of the Robot Security Framework (see more information field). At the same time, cybersecurity guidelines and practices at each level are reviewed.

- Robot connection to the data transmission network and user interfaces
Network level
- Local area network design
- Data network segmentation
- Communication Security
Application Level
- Robot application level source code production
- Source code maintenance and vulnerability management
- Data collection and storage and data rights

Teaching methods

- Lectures (flipped learning video or in classroom)
- Practical exercises
- Demonstration of skills as personal assignments

The course can be done by accredition of competence. Agree upon the accreditation with the course lecturer. More information about accreditation in the degree regulations of JAMK and the study guide.

Sufficient 1: You know the basics of the structure and cyber security of automation networks.

Satisfactory 2: You are broadly familiar with the structure of automation networks and the importance of cybersecurity for automation and robotics. There are shortcomings in the perception of the whole.

Good 3: You know the basic structure of automation networks and the structure of the robotics security framework. You will understand the role of cybersecurity in automation and robotics.

Very good 4: You master the structure of automation networks and the structure of the robotics security framework. You understand the role of cybersecurity as part of the automation and robotics.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent 5: You master the structure and importance of automation networks. You master the structure of the robotics safety framework and understand its significance and its connection to the wider whole. You understand and master the role of cybersecurity as part of automation and robotics.
