    Learning outcomes of the course
    The student learns the basic concepts of cultural tourism and understands the potential of cultural tourism for the community and economy. The interdisciplinary approach widens the knowledge of the tourism industry/ creative industries.
    Prerequisites and co-requisites
    Basic studies completed in the major study programme
    Alternatively, basic understanding of the operational field acquired through previous studies or work experience.
    Course contents
    Basic concepts in cultural tourism
    Introduction to the Tourism Industry/ Creative Industries (depending on the student's major study programme; e.g. cultural management students choose Introduction to the Tourism Industry )
    Current phenomena in cultural tourism: live like a local, sustainable travel
    Cultural tourism products in Finland
    Exploration of cultural tourism offerings in international destinations
    Assessment criteria
    Assessment criteria - grade 1 and 2
    1 (Sufficient) The student has little command of the basic concepts of cultural tourism and shows limited ability to implement these into the course assignments. The student contributes to team work at a minimum level and shows little interest in sharing his/her expertise.

    2 (Satisfactory) The student has some command of the basic concepts of cultural tourism and is able to a certain extent to implement these into the course assignments.
    Assessment criteria - grade 3 and 4
    3 (Good) The student has good command of the basic concepts of cultural tourism and is able to implement these into the course assignments.

    4 (Very Good) The student has very good command of the basic concepts of cultural tourism and is able to implement these into the course assignments in a well-defined manner.
    Assessment criteria - grade 5
    5 (Excellent) The student has excellent command of the basic concepts of cultural tourism and is able to implement these into the course assignments in a novel and original manner.
