    Learning outcomes of the course
    After this course you know the basics in gynegological illnesses, treatments and nursing methods in women´s health. You have basic knowledge in maternity care during physiological pregnancy, labour and postpartum time.

    You understand the meaning of empowering approach in planning, implementing and evaluating the care of women and their families. You understand the global perspective and ethical principles in women´s health and maternity care.
    Prerequisites and co-requisites
    You master the contents of anatomy and physiology as well as pharmacology and medicine related to nursing education.
    You master the methods of health promotion, internal medicine, and mental health, substance abuse, and crisis management.
    You know the basics of evidence-based decision making.
    Course contents
    The basics of sexual and reproductive health promotion at different life stages in women and the family
    Empowering approach in co-operation with women and their families
    The basics of gynecological illnesses and the basics of their monitoring and nursing interventions
    Physiological pregnancy, labour and postpartum time
    The main evidence-based nursing interventions and examinations in women´s health and maternity nursing
    Multiprofessional co-operation in nursing processes in women´s health and maternity care

    During the course, assessment is carried out on the principle of continuous feedback. Self-assessment and peer review also play a key role. Assessment is based on the course objectives and assessment criteria.
