Objective

The students are able to communicate both in speech and writing and gain a command of the basic structures of Swedish so as to be able to pass their compulsory language studies.

Content

Themes related to free-time and working life with oral and written interactive exercises. The basic grammatical structures and their application to speech and writing.

Materials

Will be announced by the teacher.

Completion alternatives

Exam and/or other written and oral assignments, class attendance and performance.

Student workload

Contact teaching 45-50 h Independent work 85-90 h Total 135 h (one credit equals 27 hours of student work).

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Pass
The students are able to communicate understandably both orally an in writing in familiar situations although their language use is at times slow and incoherent. They understand clear speech and writing with familiar content. They have a reasonable command of the basic structures of the language although they also show uncertainty in their correct use. Their vocabulary is sufficient for every-day situations. The level of their pronunciation is sufficient for the delivery of content.

Fail
The students’ performance is not in accordance with the requirements of the learning tasks and /or does not meet the criteria for passing the course.

Qualifications

The course is intended only for those students whose language skills are below Level B1 in the Common European Framework of Reference and who have not yet completed the course Swedish for Working Life.
