Objective

The student:
-knows the company's stakeholders in environmental issues
-knows the history of environmental management systems
-knows the environmental impact of a service company's activities
-is able to evaluate the environmental impact of a service company's activities
-knows the principles of creating an environmental management system
-is able to apply the principles of creating an environmental management system in constructing an environmental program for a service company
- can apply the knowledge in buying and purchasing processes.
-The student demonstrates skills in facility management: acquisition and development of facilities as well as organisation of real estate and user services in a financially and ethically sustainable manner.
-The student is able to act appropriately in planning of facility strategy.
-The student is able to assess an organisation’s facility needs with regard to the corporation’s core business activities and facility services and can compare different facility solutions.
-The student is able to assess how well Finnish and international research results can be utilised with regard to the field's development.
-The student is able to apply the newest available facility management research data in development of operations.
-The student is able to assess how well Finnish and international research results can be utilised with regard to the field's development.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The general assessment criteria for the skills and knowledge of a Hospitality Management degree can be found on the website (http://jamk.fi/opiskelijoille/opinto-opas). The learning outcomes of the course are assessed in relation to the learning objectives of each course, based on the knowledge, skills and general competencies (National and European Qualifications Framework, level 6).

Sufficient (1)
- The student identifies a company's stakeholders in environmental issues
- The student knows the history of environmental management systems
-The student identifies environmental impacts of a service company
- The student is able to name environmental management systems

Satisfactory (2)

- The student is able to define a company's stakeholders in environmental issues
-The student is able to list environmental impacts of a service company
- The student knows the principles of environmental management systems

3 (good)–4 (very good)
In addition to the core skills required for grades 1–2, the student masters the issues described below and is able to apply what he or she has learned:

3 (good)

- The student is able to evaluate the environmental impacts of a service company as a member of a group and can act in his or her assigned role in a work group.
- The student is able to apply the principles of an environmental management system as a member of a work group.

- 4 (very good)

- The student is able to apply the principles of creating environmental management systems independently.
- The student understands the importance of environmental management systems on the national and international level.

5 (Excellent)
In addition to the core skills required for the grades 3 (good)–4 (very good), the student masters the issues described below and is able to apply what he or she has learned

- The student can create an environmental programme for a company in the service sector.
- The student is able to evaluate and develop the environmental management systems of a service company, taking the points of view of different stakeholders into account.
- The student is able to evaluate the importance of environmental management systems to the operations of a service company, and actively monitors the development of environmental management systems nationally and internationally.
