Objective

The student knows and understand the concepts of vector and matrix and their basic operations. The student understands the purpose of vectors and matrices in 3D programming, they recognize their application prospects and are able to implement vector and matrix calculation in the applications of their field.

Content

Concept of vector, basic operations, dot, cross and scalar triple product, concept of matrix, basic operations, determinant, reverse matrix, Transformation matrices (Rotation, Scaling, Translation), orthogonal matrix, homogenous coordinates, projections, transformations between coordinate systems. There are applications of concepts and operations in 3D programming in particular but also in other fields of information technology.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

All learning outcomes are assessed with both exercises and exam.
Pass (S)
The student demonstrates with the exam and returnable exercises that he/she understands the concepts and operations of vector and matrix calculations. The items of assessment also assess the student’s ability to use vector and matrix calculation in various applications.
For an accepted performance, 50 % of the maximum points are required.
