Objective

The student masters the most essential areas of cyber security: concepts (confidentiality, integrity and availability), standards and requirements. The student studies technical algorithms in programming, which assure the integrity of data. The student knows the most common security mechanisms concerning reliability and availability in telecommunication. The student can analyze the effect of attack tools on the business of a company. The student masters the principles regarding security design and is able to design suitable data security controls for a company.

Content

The course includes the topical standards and requirements of cyber security. The course uses case studies to demonstrate the dependency of business on information technology and communication networks. Vulnerability of companies is analyzed through different electronic attacks. Electronic attack tools are studied with the given course assignments.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient 1: The student shows in a theory exam that he or she knows and understands something about cyber security theory. course assignment documentation barely passes the required level and the presentation has been given on it.

Satisfactory 2: The student shows in a theory exam that he or she knows and understands cyber security theory basics. The course assignment documentation is as required and the presentation has been given.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good 3: The student shows in a theory exam that he or she knows and understands cyber security theory well. The course assignment documentation is done well and the presentation has been given.

Very good 4: The student shows in a theory exam that he or she knows and understands cyber security theory very well. The course assignment documentation is thorough and the presentation has been given fluently.
