Objective
The student knows the technologies, limitations, methods and terminologies of data communications. The student is able to estimate the limits of the quantity and quality of data communications using the mathematical theory of communications is able to choose the means to improve the connection. The student must understand the basics of the information theory and be able to apply it to compression methods.
Content
The course covers protocol and network architectures, dataconnection, concepts of data transmission, media types, transmission and receiving technologies, efficient modulations, aspects affecting data transmission on different media, data flow control, data link protocols, utilization of a link and channel access methods. Error detection and control, frame numbering are also covered
