Content scheduling

During the course, independent study of literature, interactive lectures and workshops will alternate. Additionally, an independent learning assignment will be completed throughout the duration of the course.

Objective

The student understands the significance and principles of Human Resources Management and its affects to the successfull performance of an organization. The student is familiar with the HRM Tools in recruiting, orientation and HR information systems. He/she knows how the normative system regulating employment controls the activities and decisions of human resource management. The student is able to apply standards to practical situations from the point of view of human resource management. He/she is able to assess various alternative solutions and potential need for expert help. The student is able to give feedback in the work community and motivate employees. He/she is able to make recruitment ads in different media channels, also in social media. He/she is able to make orientation plans and forms. The student knows the compulsory HRM plans. The students know the principles of personnel surveys and leader evaluation.

The entity of HRM system. Personnel planning, recruiting, social media in recruiting, orientation. HRM information systems. Compulsory HRM plans, personnel surveys and leader evaluation.

Teaching methods

Flipped learning
The course proceeds according to themes. The themes include the following steps that support the learning process:

1. Independent study of the laws and theories of the subject area prior to the workshops / expert lectures
2. Expert lecture related to the subject area
3. Workshop - case exercises as group work
4. A personal learning assignment that is completed throughout the duration of the course. The assignment serves as demonstration of your competence with regard to the course contents.

Guidance will be available during the course as follows:
1. Each theme begins with an introduction to the theme.
2. Guidance for the group assignment in workshops.
3. Assessment of own competence and peer feedback on the group assignment.
4. Written feedback on group assignments.
5. Guidance on the completion of the personal assignment both in workshops and via the online guidance forum.
6. Written feedback on personal assignments.
7. The grade for the course is based on the competence shown in the personal learning assignment. The competence acquired in workshops will also be taken into account.

Exam schedules

Group assignments must be completed and returned during the workshops.
Workshop group assignments may be completed either during the scheduled course webinars or at the time agreed upon between the group members.
Workshop group assignments can be done either during the webinar times in the course schedule or at a time agreed by the group.
The personal assignment must be returned by 13 December 2020.
The retake of the personal assignment is possible on 15 January 2021 and 30 January 2021.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient (1) - The student attempts to demonstrate his/her theoretical and conceptual knowledge. Command of the subject area remains unclear. The student fails to show a convincing ability to apply theory into real life situations nor to communicate in an effective manner. The group project planning and implementation including scheduling has been only partly student-led. The group requires extensive supervision concerning many basic issues. The aims of the project have been achieved partially. Group communication in oral, written and digital format contains clear weaknesses and the structure is not organized.

Satisfactory (2) - The student shows theoretical and conceptual knowledge of the subject area at a reasonably clear level. Central concepts have been defined satisfactorily. The student has an obvious overall command and understanding of the subject area but fails to show a convincing ability to apply theory into real life situations. The student has some weaknesses in communication skills. Within a team environment, the student contributes to the content and is a dependable member. The group project planning and implementation including scheduling has been student-led. The group requires close guidance concerning basic issues. The aims of the project have been achieved rather well. Group communication in oral, written and digital format contains some weaknesses. The structure is logical.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3) - The student shows theoretical and conceptual knowledge of the subject at a relatively clear level. Central concepts have been defined rather well. The student displays a competent command of the subject area. The student shows an adequate but general ability to apply theory into real-life situations. The student can communicate in an effective way. Within a team environment, the student contributes to the content adequately and participates actively in group meetings. The group delivers the project rather independently under supervision. The aims of the project have been achieved and the results have some significance. Group communication in oral, written and digital format is comprehensible and the structure is descriptive.

Very good (4) - The student shows great theoretical and conceptual knowledge of the subject area. Central concepts have been defined very well and the student displays a very good command and understanding of the subject area. The student demonstrates a competent ability to apply theory into real-life situations and the ideas are worth implementing. The student shows superior communication skills. Within a team environment, the student contributes to the content providing relevant sources of information and is supportive of others and allows them to participate. The group delivers the project independently under supervision. The aims of the project have been achieved well and the results are of significance. Group communication in oral, written and digital format is fluent, almost error free and precise.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5) - The student shows exceptional theoretical and conceptual knowledge of the subject area in detail. The student demonstrates an advanced ability to apply theory into real-life situations and expresses ideas that have significant value for implementation. The student shows superior communication skills with critical arguing. Within a team environment, the student contributes to the content extensively providing new and relevant sources of information and shows supportive leadership capability. The group delivers the project independently under supervision. The aims of the project have been achieved very well and the results are significant. Group communication in oral, written and digital format is fluent, impressive, error free and precise.
