Objective

The students are able to plan a transport system for new products or product groups or to develop an existing transport system, and to form tailored transport solutions. They are acquainted with the properties of design models and their use, both based on theory and the use of application software. Furthermore, the students understand the entity of transport services. Student can apply systemic thinking principles.

The students are able to plan a transport system for new products or product groups, to develop an existing transport system, and to form tailored transport solutions. They are acquainted with the properties of design models and their use, both based on theory and the use of application software. Furthermore, the students understand the entity of transport services.Geographically the system can be extended over the national borders.

Teaching methods

Opintojakso sisältää luentoja ja itseopiskelua. Opintojaksolla suoritetaan itsenäisesti toteutettava laaja projektityö.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Satisfactory (1-2) The students have applied theoretical knowledge in the study of the target to some extent and they have tried to reach the objectives in the given time. The use of methods and design tools is slight and the level is satisfactory. The seminar presentation is imperfect to some extent and the students have some deficiencies in mastering the matters.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good - Very good (3-4) – The students have applied enough theoretical knowledge in the study of the target and the report shows clearly the amount of work input in designing and planning the system. The used methods and the design tools are relevant and they have been utilized enough. The objectives have been reached in the given time. The seminar presentation is clear and the matters introduced in the report are mastered well.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5)- The students have applied theoretical knowledge in the study of the target in an excellent way and the report shows clearly the amount of work input in designing and planning the system. The used methods and the design tools are relevant and they have been utilized skillfully. The set objectives have been reached in the given time. The seminar presentation is logical, clear and concentrates in the essential and the matters of the design introduced in the report are mastered very well.

Qualifications

Good general knowledge of logistics, knowledge of the transport technological structures of different transport forms and the related regulations, the ability to choose a technically and economically suitable form of transport for the purpose in question, ability to calculate the costs of transport and to price transport.
