Objective

The student undesrstands the structure and the functions of the hardware and software in distributed digital control system (DCS). The student can configure the basic application software loops for the laboratory process.

TSASO - Design competence
The student can design independently a proper process control according to an initial data.
TSAPL - Competence in processes, machines and systems
The student can configure an application software for measurements, final elements and control loops and test them.

EA-ER - Engineering practice
The student has an ability to test the configured application sotware and tune the control loops. The student can find and solve the malfunctions.

Teaching methods

Exam schedules

Opintojaksolla ei ole tenttiä.

Completion alternatives

The admission procedures are described in the degree rule and the study guide. The teacher of the course will give you more information on possible specific course practices.

Student workload

-lectures 20 h
-programming assignments 40 h
-independent study 75 h
Total 135 h of student work

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5): The student masters the essential knowledge and can apply the knowledge acquired in a creative and innovative manner.

Very good (4): The student masters the essential knowledge and can apply the knowledge.

Good (3): The student:
•understands the structure of the distributed control system and the depedences between different parts.
•can configure the basic loops of the application software
•can test and tune the application software
•understands the system so deeply that the student can find the reasons of malfunctions.

Satisfactory (2): The student is familiar with the basic knowledge and terminology but in the application of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate.

Adequate (1): The student identifies the basic knowledge and terminology but in the interpreting of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate.

Qualifications
