Objective

The student is able to design and implement a virtualization platform commission. The student is able to justify his/her choice concerning the suitability of the products for the purpose of use. The student is capable of group work.

Content

The course contains the different virtualisation technologies and their most common implementations. Additionally, the course contents include discussion on implementation of high usability and technologies supporting as well challenges and problems in virtualisation.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent 5: The student is able to design and select justifiably the technologies for the implementation of a demanding fault tolerant virtual environment based on requirement specification. The student is able to install and manage the system in question in a versatile manner. The student is able to validate his/her choice critically and take responsibility of the decisions. The student is able to work in the project group in all roles and assess the group’s as well as their own performance critically.

Very good 4: The student is able to design and select justifiably the technologies for the implementation of a virtualisation platform. The student is able to install and manage the parts of the system in question as part of a group. The student is able to validate his/her choice and guide the group’s performance with his/her own choices. The student is able to work as part of the project group effectively contributing to the functionality of the group.

Good 3: The student is able to design and implement a remarkable functional part for the virtualisation platform and justify his/her choice of the technology in question. The student is able to install and manage the system in question. The student brings out his/her own views on questions concerning the selection of the technologies. The student is able to work as part of a project group.

Satisfactory 2: The student is able to design and implement partially a section of a virtualisation platform when instructed. The student knows the basic procedures and management of the system in question. The student has an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the technologies and the selection concerning the selection of the technologies. The student is able to contribute their own part to the group's performance.

Sufficient 1: The student is able to design and install sporadic componets of virtualisation systems. The student is knows the basic procedures of the systems in question. The student has a tentative understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the technologies. The student is capable of independent work allocated to them by the project group.
