Objective

The student is able to anticipate and identify high-risk pregnancies and prevent and intervene with pregnancy risk factors. He/she is able to plan, implement and assess high-risk pregnancy midwifery with a multi-professional approach. The student understands the effect of antenatal problems on the pregnancy experience and knows how to meet and support the parents in such situations. The student is able to manage his/her work and develop professionally. He/she is able to act constructively and take part in developing the activities of the work community.

Requirements for a passing grade

Midwife’s professional conduct
The student:
Is able to assume responsibility for his/her own actions and follow the agreed practices
Complies with the ethical principles of midwifery and the requirements of patient safety
Is able to act in a socially aware manner

Midwifery client relationships
The student:
Is capable of establishing a secure and confidential female/family-oriented collaboration relationship with clients/families from different cultural backgrounds
Is able to listen to the client and be situation-sensitive
Recognises matters that are difficult and sensitive and is capable of addressing them with the client
Is able to act in a resource-oriented manner to promote sexual and reproductive health and early interaction

Midwife as a promoter of sexual and reproductive health and a clinical expert
The student:
Recognises the care pathways related to the promotion of sexual and reproductive health
Is able to show initiative and work independently and responsibly within the limits of his/her knowledge and skills, taking account of the stage of his/her studies
Is able to apply process thinking to the planning, implementation and assessment of midwifery
Is able to make partially independent, evidence-based decisions
Is able to provide resource-oriented, proactive and health-promoting guidance and to recognise risk factors related to sexual and reproductive health
Masters the key research and methods of assistance in midwifery and the related treatment technology
Is able to provide safe medicinal treatment under guidance and works in line with the principles of asepsis

The student:
Is able to act as a member of the work community, promoting well-being in the community
Has an understanding of the various parties involved in co-operation and is able to co-operate in multi-professional work groups
Is able to plan and organise his/her work
Shows a development-oriented approach to his/her work and reflects the principles of internal entrepreneurship in his/her actions
On the basis of self-evaluation, recognises his/her development needs and is able to assess his/her professionalism and resources in a reflective manner
Is able to develop his/her skills based on feedback and self-reflection

Qualifications

Has the knowledge necessary for high-risk pregnancy midwifery. Medication calculations passed.

The evaluation of the course is based on the evaluation criteria of traineing in midwifery studies.
