Objective
The course is phase 2 of your thesis process, and during it you will write the theoretical basis of your own thesis. The goal is that you can write formal academic text in your own words based on published sources, follow the principles of scientific writing, and demonstrate your ability to write in accordance with Jamk’s Project Reporting Instructions.

Content
Finnish as the language of instruction:
The thesis in general
The foundations of using sources
Writing the thesis
The basics of referencing, paraphrasing and own voice

This is a special intensive version of the Thesis Writing course
1. Register for the course ZZ00BL97-3069 in Peppi by April 14th.
2. All registered students will have access to the Moodle workspace the day after registration closes and a welcome email will be sent.
3. Students must return 3-5 pages of literature review text that include in-text citations and the list of references to the Moodle return box by Wednesday April 20th..
4. Only those students who have returned the required text will be sent a Zoom invite for the mandatory Kick-Off session on Friday April 29th at 9.00 - 12.00.
5. After the Kick-off students work independently online to complete eight minor tasks in chronological order by Sunday, May 15th.
6. When the eight minor tasks have been completed, students are eligible for the Show What You Know sessions which will take place in Zoom On May 17th and 18th. These are small Zoom groups where students summarize their results and give feedback to others.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Finnish as the language of instruction:
The course is marked as passed when all assignments have been completed and they demonstrate that the themes of the course have been studied and the learning materials have been utilized in the process.
English as the language of instruction:
The course will be marked with a ‘pass’ when all eight analysis templates have been completed successfully and the student has attended the final Show What You Know session.
Qualifications
Before registering for the Thesis Writing course, you should have already completed the Research and Development course (5 credits) and the Bachelor’s Thesis Plan (3 credits).
