Objective
Mastery of operations models typical of the professional field, working life skills, and the development of tasks related to one's own work. The assignments support the implementation of students' personal study plans and the objectives of the degree programme.
Content
Before the practical training, the students participate in the orientation for practical training, which has the following contents:
The practical training process:
- the significance, objectives and usages of practical training
- making a practical training contract and report
The job application process:
- job application and CV
The seminar:
- the experiences of students who have completed their practical training
The students perform tasks of their own field during the practical training. The tasks are determined in the practical training contract. The students define their learning objectives and attach them to the contract.
Location and time
The introductory information and final seminars are Held on spring and autumn. The internships are carried out at the employer's premises in accordance with the internship agreement. The seminar presentation will be held in courses related to the practical training topic or technologies, it is also possible to do an online presentation that can be recorded.
Teaching methods
Introduction to practical training lecture before starting the internship (Autumn/Spring). A guidance meeting in the middle of the internship, where attention is focused to the work of the internship, giving feedback, and planning the work to the end of the internship. After the internship, the student makes a presentation in a seminar to review the key points of their internship. The final seminars are targeted at 2nd year students or held online via Zoom, recorded and shared with students.
Student workload
5 months full-time work or 810 hours in longer time period. Verified by a work certificate.

You understand the meaning of the practical training as part of your degree and what kind of skills it can develop. You have carried out a planned and agreed internship and have reported on your work properly, in writing and orally.

Basic studies and about 60 credits of professional studies
Further information
The evaluation is carried out giving continuous feedback in the workplace by the work supervisor. 2-way feedback is also given in the mid-term meeting by the participants. In the final report and the seminar presentation you will do and present the self-evaluation and the evaluation of the internship as a whole.
