Security issues in tourism business

Location and time

Lectures twice a week except for two intensive weeks. First intensive week will be organised in cooperation with Nordic responsible tourism network from 18th until 22nd March and the lectures will be organised then online every day from 2-5 pm. Current topics on responsible tourism will be discussed during the intensive week.

Other intensive organised by visiting lecturer on law issues in tourism. Timing of the intensive week will be announced later.

Course includes various visiting industry specialists supporting student's knowhow about sustainability and responsibility issues in tourism.

Students' building of local networks and industry knowledge is supported with visits to local companies.

Completion alternatives

You have the right to apply for recognition of your studies if you have prior learning (e.g. university studies completed elsewhere) that can be accredited towards the degree you are currently completing.

The recognition of prior learning is possible in three primary ways: accreditation (replacement or inclusion), recognition of informal learning and studification. More precise info: JAMK Degree Regulations, section 17.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The general criteria of the competences that the Bachelor's Degrees awarded by Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences provide can be found on Jamk's web pages. The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Assessment is based on knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework, level 6.

Assessment methods are based on learning objectives.

Unless otherwise defined in the curriculum, a course accepted as completed is assessed on the following five-step scale:


1 (Sufficient) You can define the main concepts. You understand multiple perspectives in content matter. You identify topics in global and national levels.

2 (Satisfactory) You understand the concepts. You can explain multiple perspectives in content matter. You can give examples on topics in global and national levels.


If you don´t not meet the minimum criteria set for the course, the grade is 0 (Fail).

3 (Good) You illustrate the concepts. You demonstrate multiple perspectives in content matter. You differentiate topics in global and national levels.

4 (Very Good) You categorize the concepts. You evaluate multiple perspectives in content matter. You compare topics in global and national levels.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

5 (Excellent) You can analyze the concepts. You evaluate multiple perspectives in content matter. You formulate topics together in global and national levels.
