Objective

Physiotherapy in public diseases
During this course, you will learn how to reliably assess the factors that affect health promotion and how to plan and implement health-promoting physiotherapy for the elderly and for clients with the most common public diseases.

Course learning outcomes:
You are capable of considering evidence-based and preventive factors in physiotherapy based on clinical reasoning. You are capable of applying evidence-based ways of physiotherapy intervention to promote functioning in function restrictions related to the respiratory and cardiovascular system and mental functions, as well as in different life crises and in health promotion. You understand and apply strategies and theories for the promotion of well-being and health as well as key concepts and priorities from the point of view of national health and narrowing of health differences. You recognize the risk factors of public diseases and are capable of supporting the client in lifestyle changes. You are capable of applying health promotion methods.

Content:
Assessment of the functioning of people with public diseases and other means of physiotherapeutic assessment and methods of physiotherapy, opportunities for health promotion and health literacy.
Lifestyles in the prevention of public diseases. The intervention opportunities of physiotherapy in metabolic syndrome, obesity, type II diabetes, the most common cancer diseases, psychiatric conditions, cardiovascular, respiratory and pelvic floor disorders, and in palliative care.
Pre- and post-operative physiotherapy. Changes related to pregnancy and ageing and exercising.
Opportunities for physiotherapy in memory disorders and different life crises.
Psychophysical physiotherapy and body awareness at different stages of life
