Objective

You will learn about basic building technology solutions, such as heat distribution, cooling and ventilation, as well as electrical house technology in general. Studying in the course requires basic skills in the field of technology, and the course enables the study of automatic control and regulation practices in building technology in other courses.

EUR-ACE INFORMATION AND UNDERSTANDING
You will understand the functions of building services and their importance in terms of energy efficiency and healthy indoor conditions. You know the goals set for indoor conditions in regulations and recommendations. You know the key building technology devices, systems, processes and understand their interactions. You will understand the operating principles of the most common heating, heat distribution, ventilation, cooling and heat recovery solutions. You know the measurement technology used in building technology and the most common control strategies. You can read the most common building services documents and diagrams.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Adequate (1): You identify the basic tasks of building services engineering. You know what kind of equipment and processes are included in building services. You will identify industry terminology and the most common charts.

Satisfactory (2): You are familiar with the key functions of building services and outline its significance for energy efficiency and indoor conditions. You identify key building services equipment, systems and processes. You have an understanding of how systems work, but understanding the whole is challenging.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good 3: You are familiar with key building services equipment, systems and processes and can interpret the diagrams associated with them. You know the goals set for indoor conditions in regulations and recommendations. You know the key effects of building technology on energy efficiency and indoor conditions. You identify the typical risks associated with building services for a healthy building. You are familiar with the key electronic building services systems.

Very good 4: You understand the impact of building technology on indoor conditions and energy efficiency. You know the interactions of key building services processes as well as the most common control strategies. You understand the impact of electronic building services systems on safety and energy efficiency.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): You understand the interactions between building services systems and processes and are able to analyze the operation of systems. You have an in-depth understanding of how the most common building technology control methods work

Qualifications

Basic knowledge in the field of technology

Further information

During the first three weeks, the first assignment must be returned or else you will be dropped from the course.

Lesson assignments must be returned to Moodle on time. Assignments are evaluated on a Pass/Fail scale.

The student must acknowledge the course feedback as given (task in Moodle).

An exam is held for the course. 90% of the exam points correspond to a grade of 5 and 45% correspond to a grade of 1.
