At first a few lectures and then labs

Objective

You will learn about the tasks of building automation and the impact on energy efficiency and indoor conditions. In this course, study requires basic skills in building, electrical, telecommunications, measurement and control technology, and automation systems. The course enables work in positions in the field.

EUR-ACE ENGINEERING IN PRACTICE
You are familiar with the technology, terminology and documentation used in the building automation industry. You know the most common systems, architectures, communication buses and integration solutions used in building automation. You know how to design and implement small-scale building automation applications

Exam schedules

Exam at the end of the study period. The exam will be held twice. Approved performance may be renewed only once.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Adequate (1): You are familiar with the key technology, terminology, and documentation used in building automation at a general level.

Satisfactory (2): You are familiar with the technology, terminology, and documentation used in building automation. You will be able to make minor changes to simple building automation applications and documents.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good 3: You are familiar with the most commonly used bus solutions and architectures in building automation systems. You know how to design and implement a simple application with a building automation system. You understand the purpose and operation of property management systems. You know the content and interfaces of a typical building automation project and contract.

Very good 4: You master the key issues related to building automation and know how to apply your knowledge in the design and implementation of various building automation applications. You will understand the impact of different building automation implementations on energy efficiency and indoor conditions.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): You master all the key issues related to building automation and know how to apply your knowledge creatively in different system entities. You have extensive knowledge of building automation information systems and bus solutions.

Qualifications

Basic skills in electrical, telecommunication, measurement and control technology and automation systems. Basic knowledge of building services equipment and processes.

Further information

During the first three weeks, the first assignment must be returned or else you will be dropped from the course.

Lesson assignments must be returned to Moodle on time. Assignments are evaluated on a Pass/Fail scale.

The student must acknowledge the course feedback as given (task in Moodle).

An exam is held for the course. 90% of the exam points correspond to a grade of 5 and 45% correspond to a grade of 1.
