Objective

Purpose of the course
In this course, you will get to know the factors related to and determining the clienthood in the social and healthcare services, as well as the basics of health promotion and guidance in nursing work.

Competences of the course
Clinical competence: Identifies the client's/patient's need for care and plans, implements and evaluates client-oriented care in various health care sectors in cooperation with the client/patient, relatives and other social and healthcare professionals.
Competence in health promotion: Apply health promotion theories and current research information used in nursing work.
Competence in guidance, interaction skills and supporting self-care: Assesses the needs and resources of the client/patient and recognizes his/her own responsibility in planning guidance and supporting self-care.
Sustainable development: Understands sustainability challenges, their interdependencies and the many perspectives of issues and problems.


Competence goal of the course
After attending the course, you will recognize the individual needs of clients and understand the concept of client-oriented approach in nursing. You illustrate the effect of a professional on client-oriented way of working and client involvement. You know the framework, principles and most important concepts of health promotion. You know the key methods of health promotion in nursing and understand their importance in client-oriented guidance. You understand the importance of preventive work from the perspective of the individual, community and society as part of sustainable development.
