Competences to be promoted in the course:

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
You understand the role and significance of procurement in organizations and networks. You are familiar with the procurement process and the most significant special characteristics of different sectors. You understand the importance of total cost management and identify procurement opportunities from the perspective of responsibility and sustainable development. You have an overall picture of the opportunities and challenges of procurement in business development.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF TECHNOLOGY
You will identify opportunities to apply methods and techniques to carry out procurement professionally.

COMMUNICATION AND TEAMWORK
From a procurement perspective, you identify stakeholders with whom you can communicate effectively.

- Role of purchasing
- Purchasing process
- Purchasing in different business environments
- Sustainable purchasing
- The future of purchasing

Materials

E-learning environment material and the following course book:
Sanna Nieminen. 2016. Good sourcing - better business. Talent Pro. (as an e-book in JAMK's library)

In addition, the English book can be used alongside:
van Weele, Arjan. 2018. Purchasing and Supply Chain Management. 7th ed. Cengage Learning. (as an e-book in JAMK's library)

Teaching methods

The course is implemented virtually.
Course includes self-study (independent learning tasks).
Assessment is based on the total number of points obtained from the learning assignments, according to which the grade of the course is 1-5.

Exam schedules

This implementation utilizes subject exams as part of learning tasks. Subject exams are taken on their own time independently. Material can be utilized during exams.

International connections

Some of the material is in English.

Student workload

This is a nonstop implementation. The student can participate in the implementation during the period from 1 August to 31 May.
Moodle platform opens 30. August for students. Course is open until 31. July.

Student creates own study schedule for the course.

The calculated workload is the number of credits times 27 hours.
In the 5 credit course, the workload is 135h.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The overall assessment consists of the total points of the assignments indicated in the course.

1: You understand the basics and terminology, but you have significant lack of interpretation of key issues.

2: You understand the basics and terminology, but you have shortcomings in applying key issues.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

3: You have mastered the key aspects of the course. You have achieved a good level in the topics described in the learning outcomes and can apply the skills you have learned.

4: You have achieved an excellent level in almost all the subjects described in the learning outcomes and are able to apply and analyze the skills you have learned.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

5: You have achieved an excellent level in all the subjects described in the learning outcomes and are able to apply the skills you have learned in a critical and innovative way.
