Content scheduling

In the beginning of the course, we study and practice working life interaction situations. The presentations of the group assignment take place at the end of the course. The portfolio is a learning assignment that serves as a proof of competence in the end of the course.

The object of the course is that you understand the significance of a supervisor’s interaction skills as a success factor for organizations and are able to develop interaction within the work community in a variety of situations.

You acquire knowledge related to interaction skills and recognize different kinds of theories and methods. You recognize different areas of interaction and communications. You understand the connection between a supervisor’s interaction skills and work performance and employee commitment and well-being. You are capable of describing your own interaction style.

Teaching methods

Active participation in weekly online teaching. Participating in the webinars requires a working camera, headphones and microphone. Demo exercises are done in the webinars, so book a quiet time and place where you can focus on actively participating in the exercises.
Group assignment (groups are formed in the beginning of the course with teacher's support).
Individual working (preparation for online meetings and graded learning assignment, portfolio).
Guidance is available after each webinar.

The exercises in the webinars and learning assignments of the course are based on working life situations. The course also has changing visiting lecturers.

You acquire knowledge related to interaction skills and recognize different kinds of theories and methods. You recognize different areas of interaction and communications. You understand the connection between a supervisor’s interaction skills and work performance and employee commitment and well-being. You are capable of describing your own interaction style. You are capable of creating illustrative documents related to the contents of the course.

Satisfactory 2
You are able to present knowledge related to interaction skills as well as different kinds of theories and methods. You recognize different areas of interaction and communications. You understand the effect of a supervisor’s interaction skills on work performance and employee commitment and well-being. You are capable of developing your own interaction style. You are able to utilize theories to prepare illustrative and consistent documents.

You are able to compare knowledge related to interaction skills as well as different kinds of theories and methods. You are able to identify areas of interaction and communications from different perspectives and are able to assess interaction in working life situations. You are capable of developing your own interaction style in a goal-oriented way. You are able to use relevant theories to prepare illustrative, consistent and well-reasoned documents.

The assessment of learning during the course is based on learning objectives, quality and criteria, and self-evaluation by the student plays an important role in the process. The assessment of the learning assignment supports the development of the student’s competence.
