Objective

Purpose:
The musculoskeletal system is the basis of all movement. During this course, you will study the assessment of the functioning of the musculoskeletal system with physiotherapeutic methods and learn methods of intervening in the functioning and function restrictions of the musculoskeletal system.

Competences:
- FUNCTIONING ASSESSMENT COMPETENCE
- THERAPY COMPETENCE
- GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING COMPETENCE

Learning objectives:
You have knowledge and skills to assess function and function restrictions of the musculoskeletal system by means of interviews, observations, manual therapy and differential diagnostic tests. You can also assess movement and movement system impairment, and draw clinical conclusions based on the above. You are capable of planning, implementing and applying manual therapy and appropriate therapeutic exercise progressively to maintain and promote the client’s functioning in different environments.

Content

Analysis, differential diagnostic examination and clinical reasoning of movement and movement impairment syndromes of a client with function restrictions of the musculoskeletal system. Utilisation and application of various therapeutic methods suitable for the physiotherapy of the musculoskeletal system in exercises and guidance. Utilisation of the basics of manual therapy and mobilisation in the limitations of body functions of soft tissues and joints (spinal and extremity joints). Exercises and guidance methods for movement control disorders, mobility, stability and ergonomics in the promotion of the client’s functioning. Basics of orthopaedic-traumatological physiotherapy.

Location and time

Opintojakso toteutuu 26.8.-25.10.2024.
Tarkempi aikataulu Moodlessa.
Opintojaksoon sisältyy exam-tentti.

Teaching methods

Tällä opintojaksolla perehdyt itsenäisesti Moodlen oppimateriaalien ja itsenäisten tehtävien avulla käsiteltäviin teemoihin ennen kampuksella tapahtuvaa opetusta. Kampuksella harjoitellaan opintokokonaisuuden aiheisiin liittyviä taitoja pari- tai pienryhmätyöskentelynä opettajan johdolla. Oppimisessa hyödynnetään jatkuvaa vertais- että opettajan antamaa palautetta. Opintojaksoon sisältyy pienryhmässä toteutettava kirjallinen työ, joita hyödynnetään opintojakson lopussa osaamisen näytöissä.

Exam schedules

Kirjallinen tentti (exam)
1. suoritus vkolla 39.
2. suoritus vkolla 41.
