Objectives
The object of the course
After completing this course, you will learn the fundamental knowledge of event management, by focusing on global contemporary and strategic issues within this sector. You will get familiar with various topics such as sustainability, digitalization, place branding and legacy. You have a deeper understanding of current topics in international sport events and tourism.This course is part of the Sustainable Sport Business Management module.

The learning objectives of the course
Upon completion of this course, you can to apply contemporary international sport event and tourism theory to the management or marketing of an international sport event, sport tourism activity or organization. You are familiar with the sustainable design or bid procedures to host major international sport events. You attempt to incorporate digital innovations or solutions in the design, delivery and promotion of international sport events and tourism. You are able to leverage major sport events or sport tourism activities for positive brand or reputation impacts for a destination. You are able to identify trends and growth opportunities in sport events and tourism, such as adventure and e-sports tourism. You are able to suggest sustainable managerial solutions to your business challenges.
Content
The course content consists of theories and topics such as contemporary sport event and tourism issues in context: people, places and activities, sustainable development of sport events and tourism, digitalization and innovation in sport events and tourism, leveraging legacies from international sport events and tourism, strategic bidding and portfolio management for international sport events, place branding through international sport events and tourism as well as trends and growth opportunities in international sport events and tourism: e.g. adventure and e-sports tourism.

Teaching methods
Classroom teaching – lectures and workshops, online and virtual learning.
The primary mode of delivery is a combination of in-class activities on campus including both lectures and workshops and online webinars. The in-class activities deepen the learning in the forms of lectures, individual and group work, and discussions.
This course is possible to study independently but that requires more effort from the student. All material is available on Moodle.

Various kinds of introductions to working life, real life cases, international and national visiting lecturers.
Exam dates and retake possibilities
No exam.
International connections
The course includes international case studies. Course is taught by international visiting professor.
Alternative completion methods
