Objective

Aim of the course

On this course you will learn to assess a client's functioning using different methods of physiotherapy.

Course competences:

Professional communication
Physiotherapy assessment

Intended learning outcome of the course:

You are able to establish a reciprocal interactive relationship and take the client's needs into account by communicating clearly, precisely, comprehensively and efficiently in the context of functioning assessment, both face-to-face and remotely.

You are able to plan and carry out an extensive, person centred physiotherapy assessment and analyse the preconditions for the client's functioning and disability, especially their performance and capacity. You know how to document results of assessment in compliance with statutory and national requirements.

You are able to use interviews, observation, manual examinations, measurements and technology as required by the situation when assessing a client's work ability and functioning.

Content

This course covers the principles of planning and conducting a person centred physiotherapy assessment of functioning, including an assessment of the client's mobility. Key content includes: interview, evaluation of posture, assessment of walking and mobility, assessment of muscle and joint function, evaluation of strength and balance, different measurements of functioning and pain assessment. The course also covers the special features of assessing different areas of functional capacity at different ages, clinical reasoning related to interpreting the assessment results, and documentation of functional capacity assessment results in compliance with national requirements.
