The course is loaded throughout the autumn period, the sequence is discussed in the first class and can be found in Moodle.

Objective

You have a clear picture about the structures and practices used in the larger and more complicated automation systems.

EUR-ACE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Your are able to implement control applications using programmable logic and process control systems.
You can make PLC programs according to the standard IEC 61131-3.

EUR-ACE ENGINEERING PRACTICE
You are able to select and use appropriate equipment, tools and methods. You are able to combine theory and practice to solve control system problems.

Content

In this course, you will learn effective programming and structural practices for implementing larger automation systems. You will be able to implement control systems using PLC technology in accordance with the IEC-61131 standard. You will learn to select and use appropriate equipment, tools, and methods for larger systems and combine theory and practice to solve control system problems.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient (1): You identify the basic knowledge and terminology but in the interpreting of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate.

Satisfactory (2): You are familiar with the basic knowledge and terminology but it’s challenging to make device controls independently.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): You can make PLC programs according to the standard IEC 61131-3. You have a clear picture about the structures and practices used in the larger and more complicated automation systems and you are able to do needed configurations and diagnostics.

Very good (4): You master the essential knowledge and can apply the knowledge.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): You master the essential knowledge and can apply the knowledge acquired in a creative and innovative manner.

Qualifications

You should have a basic knowledge about the automation systems and skills in programming some automation devices.

Further information

The knowledge is acquired through the course exercises, which are compulsory. The assessment is based 100% on the exam.
