Objective

Personal Leadership Development is important for leaders because it helps them to realize their full potential and become agents of positive change. By constantly working to improve themselves, leaders can foster meaningful relationships with those around them and help elevate the performance and well-being of those they lead.

Personal Leadership Development can help you build your strengths, improve your self-image and motivation, overcome past conditioning, make successful choices, alter attitudes, habits, and behaviors to experience self-motivation, develop a tangible action plan to achieve goals and success, learn real leadership skills, act with sound values and integrity, provide coaching and encouragement to others, improve daily productivity, overcome obstacles and hindrances to motivation, and prepare for leadership opportunities in the future.

The course “Psychology and Personal Leadership” aims to provide an understanding of psychological concepts applied to organizational settings. The course emphasizes the individual’s motivation, communication, leadership, and personal development.

The course will cover topics following several schools of thought in psychology such as: structuralism, functionalism, psychoanalysis, behaviorism, humanism, cognitivism, and positive psychology.

Upon completion of the course you will be able to understand yourself better, as well as to use diverse tools to understand others.

The program is carried out as a holistic experience. Therefore, it is likely to elicit the practice of core competences as: communication skills, deep listening, critical thinking, creative planning, and diversity integration. There is a special focus on 2 JAMK shared competences:

1. Learning to Learn
You develop critical and analytical mindset that helps you to study and review existing knowledge in the light of relevant learning resources and learning methods; incentivizes you to acquire new knowledge; and develops your intellectual capabilities to seek conclusions and draw inferences in various contexts.

2. Proactive Development
You develop solutions in the light of current as well as anticipated situations and challenges in business by applying knowledge, critical reasoning and analytical skills. You ensure that these solutions are feasible, relevant, creative, user-friendly, and sustainable as well as underline active cooperation among different actors.
