Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The supervising lecturer and the lecturer teaching written communication assess the maturity test by its content and language.

Maturity test is a demonstration of the writer’s professional maturity and excellent Finnish writing skills required in the Finnish legislation. At a university of applied sciences, the content of the maturity test is checked by the thesis supervisor, and the language is checked by the lecturer teaching written communication appointed by the language center. The name of the language lecturer can be found in Elmo student intra in the bulletin on the Kielten opiskelu / Language Studies site.

The maturity test is assessed on the scale pass – fail. The approved text must contain 3,000-3,500 characters. The text is assessed by:
• 1.content: the intelligibility of the bulletin, the key results of the bachelor’s thesis and its usefulness for the own field as well as its expert processing
• 2.language: the autonomy of the text (the content is understandable even if the reader has not seen the thesis), consistency of the process (the structure of the bulletin), good formal and narrative style as well as error-free language and spelling.

The maturity test is fail if the heading is missing or the text has been written using the first person singular form.

Qualifications

The thesis has been sent to the supervisor(s) for assessment.
