* knows how to examine and assess the prerequisites and limitations for the functioning of a neurological client/rehabilitation patient, and is able to draw up an evaluation.
• knows how to apply evidence-based impact methods for physiotherapy in cases related to impairments of the central and peripheral nervous system. Additionally, the student has developed a research-oriented approach to work and is able to critically assess the successfulness of his/her actions.
• is able to act independently, as well as participate in multiprofessional cooperation in different types of teams.
Content
Assessment of the functioning of a neurological client and the scope of rehabilitation. The ability of physiotherapy to affect neurological and cognitive symptoms and psychomotor changes e.g. problems related to tonus, coordination, attention, communication and memory, which are caused by disorders to different parts of the nervous system. The special characteristics of physiotherapy for child and adult clients with neurological disorders. (Premature babies, cerebral palsy and attention deficits, ADHD, children with Spina Bifida, neuromuscular diseases and autism. Stroke, brain injury, Parkinson’s Disease, MS and spinal cord injury patients, as well as patients with neuropathy or an injury to the peripheral nervous system.)
