Pass/Fail
Objective
The students are initially acquainted with the main teaching methods and materials of their own instrument and are capable of contributing to their development and adaptation. They have the basic readiness for teaching and a teacher's work. They are acquainted with learning guidance and evaluation practices in teaching, and have been drilled in these activities in the work milieu. They evaluate in a constructive and realistic manner their own abilities and those of their peers and are capable of using portfolio as a tool in the learning and evaluating processes.
Content
Teaching goals in the instrument's elemental level, teaching materials and methods. Command of the typical teaching situation. Guidance and evaluation of diverse students.
Materials
Literature of the respective instruments, basics of ergonomics in the instruments to be tought, The basics in elemental art education and general principles of teaching planning, examinations 1 and 2 and evaluation principles.
Completion alternatives
Participation in lessons and activities, completion of assignments, portfolio work.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The students participate actively in lesson planning and following. They finish the lesson auditing and complete their assignments. They become acquainted with the main teaching methods of their main field of study and teaching materials (levels 1 and 2) and are capable of applying them. They possess the basic requirements for work in learning and teaching. They are able to evaluate their own teaching and that of their students, using portfolio as learning support. They are able to evaluate also the teaching of others in a constructive and realistic manner.
Qualifications
The students are familiar with the basics of music education and understand the diverse conceptions connected with music learning. They understand the significance of study plans as foundantions for teaching. They are familiar with music institute activity and team work. They are capable of developing reflective teaching attitudes and understand the principles behind portfolio work.
