Content scheduling
The first part is orientation (information and looking for a placement), the main part of the course is working in the organization and have a learning diary, and finally, you will report and assess your learning with the course assignments.
Objective
The purpose of the advanced practical training is to improve your skills to apply the theoretical knowledge into the working life practices in the tourism and hospitality industry. You enhance your working life skills and development approach in the field of tourism. After this practical training you will have experience of advanced tasks and/or various positions in the tourism and hospitality field and you will establish your professional identity. You will have the base for working in expert/management positions in tourism and hospitality industry.

Learning objectives
You have familiarized yourself with the tourism company/organisation and you understand its service and production processes. Info sessions at Jamk main campus at a later announced times.
The timing of working in an external organization depends on your studies and personal situations.
Teaching methods
You will receive an information of practical training process during the info session, and in addition, you will independently familiarize yourself with the learning objectives and required tasks in Workseed. You will go through the recruitment process (job-searching, CV, application texts, interview, etc.) and find a practical training placement independently. You will work in external organization with the guidelines of the working place. You will have a learning diary, and you will submit final assignments on Workseed.
You will have an opportunity to guidance of the Practical Training Coordinator.

You will work 365 hours in the tourism industry.

Completion alternatives
If you have strong experience from the tourism and hospitality field that meets the learning goals of the course, you have opportunity to apply for accreditation. Discuss this possibility with your career tutor during your Personal Learning Plan (PLP) discussion. You will receive more information of the accreditation during the info session.
Student workload
The 405 hours are divided into three parts:
- 20 hours for familiarizing yourself with the course, starting the learning diary, and looking for the placement;
- 365 hours of working in an external organization, and;
- 20 hours of reflecting, reporting and evaluating your own learning.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
To pass this course you find a place to work and work according to the instructions by the organization. You identify the company/organisation services and production processes. You understand the operational environment and stakeholders’ role. You can describe the development ideas for the organization and for your own competences. You reflect the working experience to your future career goals.
Qualifications
You must have a previous experience of working in service industry and theoretical knowledge of services and tourism industry before the advanced practical training.
