Objective

The student
• understands the meaning of music and physical activities in human self-knowledge, mental, social and physical development, health and well-being
• understands music and physical activities as a way and a method of self-expression and education in client work and social care with children and/or adult people
• student knows her musical, expressive and bodily strengths
• is able to use musical and physical expression and exercises in interaction, education and client work, as well as in community work

Content

• Theoretical and practical basics of music and physical activation in education, social rehabilitation and health promotion
• Exercises applied in working with diverse client groups in different ages
• Methods and materials of music, physical education and movement
• Principles and practice in creative and functional group counseling with different people, ages, client groups and communities

Completion alternatives

• Full-time studies: Contact lessons, seminars, counseling sessions for client groups and a portfolio. • Blended learning: Contact lessons, seminars, counseling sessions for client groups, e-learning assignments and a portfolio.

Student workload

• Full-time studies/Early childhood education: Contact lessons in music 20 h and in physical activities 20 h, seminars 8 h, client work 40 h, a portfolio 47 h. Total 135 hours.• Full-time studies/Social counseling: Contact lessons in music 16 h and in physical activities 24 h, seminars 8h, client work 40h, portfolio 47h. Total 135 hours.• Blended learning/Social Counseling: Contact lessons in music 12 h and in physical activities 16 h, seminars 8 h, client work 50 h, a portfolio 47 h. Total 135 hours.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Pass (S)
The student
• has theoretical and practical competence in music and physical activities
• is creative and innovative in her functional, written, musical and bodily problem solving skills, counselings and presentations
• is capable of developing her practical counseling skills in client work
• is able to critically assess her own musical and physical actions, and counseling skills in client work

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
