Objective

Student understands the impact of the building services to energy efficiency and indoor conditions. Student knows the essential regulations and recommendations related to indoor conditions.

Student knows the essential devices, systems and processes used in the building services and understands the mutual interaction between them. Student understands the operational principles of the most common heating, heat distribution, ventilation, cooling and heat recovery systems. Student knows measuring technology and control strategies used in the building services. Student is capable to read and understand technical documentation and drawings used in the building services.

Student knows the essential electrical building services in general.

Content

Building services is approached from the point of view of the electrical and automation engineering. Contents:

Indoor conditions and energy efficiency
devices and systems used in the building services
processes and control strategies used in the building services
documentation
electrical building services systems

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Adequate (1): The student knows the essential functions of the building services. The student knows what kind of devices and processes are included in the building services. The student recognizes basic terminology and documentation related to the building services.

Satisfactory (2): The student knows the essential functions of the building services and conceives the impact to the energy efficiency and indoor conditions. The student recognizes the essential devices, systems and processes of the building services. The student has understanding about the main principles, but conceptualization of the ensemble is challenging

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): The student knows the essential devices, systems and processes of the building services and is capable to read and understand the related drawings and documentation. The student knows the essential regulations and recommendations related to indoor conditions. The student recognizes the impact of the building services to the energy efficiency and indoor conditions. Student recognizes the most typical risks caused by the building services relative to the building. Student knows the most essential electrical building services.


Very good (4): ): The student understands the impact of the building services to the energy efficiency and healthy indoor conditions. The student knows the most common automatic control strategies used in the building services and the mutual interaction between the processes. The student understands the impact of the electrical building services to the energy efficiency and safety.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): The student understands the mutual interaction between the processes and is able to analyze the performance of the building services system. Student shows deep understanding in the most common automatic control methods used in the building services.
