Objective

After completing the course, the student is able to act as an expert in a information model-based building project. The student understands the principles of building information modeling and knows how to use the basic software used in modeling. The student understands the roles and tasks of the people working in the BIM project and the most common practices. The student is able to take into account the boundary conditions and procedures required by the common BIM requirements 2012. The student is able to utilize the features of different software in the sector-specific tasks.

Construction project and basics of modeling (2 cr)
- stages of the construction process and task lists for different actors
- a batch modeling process
- basic use of BIM software
Common BIM requirements 2012 in different areas of the building process (3 cr)
- the role of the subscriber in a BIM -based construction project
- chief planner BIM tasks
- BIM in architectural design
- BIM in structural design
- BIM in construction management

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

5 (excellent), 4 (commendable), 3 (good), 2 (satisfactory) and 1 (passable) or accepted (S) / abandoned (0). Completion of the course is rejected (0) if the student does not reach the minimum goals set for passing the course.

As a passing requirement; a pre assignment, learning assignments and an exam.

Qualifications

The course requires good basic IT -skills and use of personal computer.
Students can download the software used for their devices from software companies services.
