Objective

The aim of the course is advancing your competence relating to the phases of the rehabilitation process in an area of rehabilitation selected by you, multiprofessional co-operation and the roles of different professionals. You will explore case management by reflecting in writing on everyday actions as well as literature and research evidence in the field. The intended learning outcomes are determined based on the contents of the selected advanced study module.

Intended learning outcome:

Operating in a workplace: You know how to work as a rehabilitation specialist in co-operation networks.

Proactive development: You are able to resolve problem situations associated with rehabilitation processes creatively and renew working methods and practices in co-operation with different actors. You know how to apply existing research evidence in the field and draw on research and development methods. 

Learning to learn: You are able to evaluate the knowledge base of rehabilitation critically. You know how to apply your knowledge and practices appropriately in rehabilitation case management.

Content

The key content of the course comprises advancing your rehabilitation competence in an area selected by you. You develop and evaluate rehabilitation processes together with the client and the network. You collect information on the client's situation and use it to plan and carry out rehabilitation. You reflect on your actions as a rehabilitation specialist.

Qualifications

You know how to assess rehabilitation needs and possibilities and guide clients in rehabilitation processes. You have familiarised yourself with the rehabilitation process, planning of rehabilitation, the service system and documentation. You know how to operate in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation network.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

You are able to describe the role of a rehabilitation specialist in a co-operation network and act accordingly.

You find solutions to clients’ problems. You are able to make development proposals to other professionals. You know where to find reliable information and are able justify your choices relying on information. You know how research and development methods can be used in the rehabilitation counsellor's work.

You are able to describe critical perspectives related to rehabilitation practices. You know how documentation can be used in structured work. You are able to identify the theoretical knowledge on which the selected practices are based.

You recognise elements of expertise in rehabilitation in your work.
