Objective

Purpose of the course
In professional practice, you will work in various mental health, substance abuse and crisis care work environments. You carry out the early identification of mental health disorders and substance abuse diseases as well as the planning and implementation of the patient's overall treatment. You will professionally encounter a patient in an acute crisis and his loved ones. You work as part of a multi-professional team. The practice strengthens your professional ethics and your self-reflection skills.

A culturally sensitive meeting of people of different ages.
Assessment of the overall situation of mental health, substance abuse and crisis patients, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment and rehabilitation.
Key methods of mental health and substance abuse treatment, such as therapeutic collaboration, dialogicity, psychoeducation and mini-intervention.
Supporting the survival of a patient in acute crisis.
Taking into account key mental health and substance abuse treatment recommendations and legislation in various customer situations.
Identifying the factors affecting the safety of the patient, their loved ones and the staff in various mental health, substance abuse and crisis care work environments.
Digital nursing assistance methods in the treatment of mental health disorders and substance abuse disorders.

Qualifications

You manage the basic information of the customer base and the operating environment in the social and health sector. You have basic knowledge of the basics of nursing, health promotion and mental health and addiction treatment.
You master the areas of anatomy and physiology as well as medical treatment.
You know the basics of evidence-based decision-making.

You know how to face the patient and his loved ones in a controlled cooperative relationship, supporting gender equality. You recognize the effects of the disease in the life of the patient and loved ones.
You dare to face and be present with a patient in acute crisis. You recognize the impact of a crisis on an individual's life.
You will be guided in using some key evidence-based nursing methods used in the treatment of mental health disorders and addiction diseases. You recognize the strengths of the patient and loved ones and know how to support them.
You work in accordance with nursing values, ethical and sustainable development principles and guidelines, and you know how to evaluate their implementation in daily work. You work in accordance with the current legislation.
You reflect on your professional identity as a nurse.
