Objective

Purpose of the course:
In this course, you will learn to use the basic laws of statics and equations of equilibrium to solve the forces of structures in plane cases. The model structures used are statically determined points, beams, columns, perimeters and trusses from the construction field. You will need the information for dimensioning structures.

Course competences:
Knowledge and understanding of basic mathematics and science at the level necessary to achieve other learning objectives.

Course objective:
In this course, you will learn to use the basic laws of statics and equations of equilibrium to solve the forces of structures in plane cases. You will learn to perform overturning analysis, to estimate the forces acting on a point. You will also learn how to solve support reactions of structures and lattice rod forces. These are also the basic tasks of the course.

Content

Equilibrium equations, Crash analyses, Equilibrium force systems, Support reactions, Cross bar forces
1 cr Newton's laws and particle equilibrium and fall analysis
1 cr Beam/body balance
1 cr Articulated/transverse beam balance and lattice rod forces

Qualifications

Basics of mathematics: solving an equation, solving a right triangle.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Passed: The student knows and recognizes the topics described in the course objectives and he/she can perform the tasks according to the course objectives: (Equilibrium equations, Rollover analysis, Equilibrium force systems, Support reactions, Cross-bar forces). The student can demonstrate his/her competence by reading the tasks according to the objectives.
