Objective

You participate in a cyber exercise in your own role set by the instructors. The goal is to gain practical experience of an attack campaign that targets the company's ICT infrastructure: from the role of an attacker, a defender or the exercise organizer. After completing the course, the student can apply the learned skills in a real environment against various cyber security attacks.

EUR-ACE Engineering practice
You participate in a cyber security exercise in the role of an attacker, a defender or an exercise organizer. In teams, you get to use your skills in a real environment.

EUR-ACE Multidisciplinary competences
You work in a cyber security exercise in the team of an attacker, a defender or the organizer of the exercise. In teams, you get to use your skills in a real environment.

EUR-ACE Communication and team-working
You work in a cyber security exercise in the team of an attacker, a defender or the organizer of the exercise. You understand the importance of communication and teamwork in maintaining situational awareness during various cyber security incidents and attacks.

Content

A practical cyber exercise where you learn to apply knowledge and skills in a real environment against various attacks, e.g.

You will learn to observe and analyze various real-time events, threats and attacks
You will learn how to deal with and recover from cyber security incidents
You understand the role of a cyber security exercise in improving the company's cyber security
You will gain experience in organizing and operating a cyber security exercise in the planning, implementation, and analysis phases of the exercise
You understand the importance of situational awareness during various cyber security incidents and attacks
You will learn to use different defensive tactics to defend and/or limit attacks
You understand the impact of various threats and risks on critical services

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Passed: The student shows good activity and cooperation with other students and is able to participate in the exercise. The student knows how to handle, detect and understand various cyber security threats that companies face. The student reflects on his own learning very well. The student must participate in the contact days of the course and keep a learning diary about the course.

Failed: The student does not participate in the cyber exercise in the role defined for him, nor in the related group work or personal exercise.
